Self Confidence: Acquired From The Outside Or Released From The Inside?

Self confidence appears to be a trait that some people are fortunate to have and that others can only aspire to. But is this really a true reflection of reality?

Self Confidence Seen In The Jump If you examine the behaviour of a young child, you will witness:
  1. A fascination with their environment around them
  2. An enthusiasm for all things that they like
  3. A determination to focus on feeling good
  4. A seemingly boundless energy for life

If you examine the behaviour of a confident adult, you will witness:

So being confident in oneself is actually a natural human trait that lies within each of us

So the question then becomes what does a young child know that a lot of adults seem to have forgotten?

The young child knows that:

  1. The purpose of their life is to be happy
  2. They have free will to focus upon anything of their own choosing
  3. They are powerful and creative in nature
  4. Their world is a stimulating and supportive environment
Until they are persuaded otherwise by the bigger and older adults around them.
Einstein suggested that the most important question for every human to answer was - "Do you believe that the Universe is friendly and supportive?"

The adult with Self Esteem issues has forgotten all of these things and why?

Because they have been conditioned to invest too much energy into What People Around Them are Thinking and Saying and not enough energy into what feels best to them as an individual.

The people around them have done a very convincing job of being a true authority in the lives of others: Parents, Teachers, Peers, Employers....they all have a strong view on what is right and wrong and a child quite understandably feels that they must fit in with the expectations of others in order to be liked and loved.

But this is a flawed approach because no matter how hard you try, you are unable to please all of the people all of the time, in fact even one person will change what they want from you from one day to the next.

The internal feeling of being unable to please others

This is the cause that leads to the feelings of being unworthy, unlovable and not valuable. These beliefs are fertile ground for Low Self Esteem and if this perspective is left unchanged for an extensive period of time then Self Identity will be damaged.
